Irish Welsh Trumpets
Irish Welsh Trumpets
The official launch of An Trumpa Mór- the Irish/Welsh Iron Age trumpets took place in Porto on the 24th of August 2017 at the ORGANOLOGICAL CONGRESS and 6th International Scientific Meeting for
Sound and Musical Instrument Studies. The archaeological finds from Llyn Cerrig Bach, Wales and Roscrea, Ireland are presented as the second part of the most recent research by Ancient Music Ireland for the academic paper to be published by Animusic Portugal. Special thanks to Patricia Bastos and Giulio Salvadori who welcomed us with the usual outstanding hospitality and opportunity. The attached video shows Simon O'Dwyer and Pedro Barbosa (Pepe), Sculptor and Musician from Porto playing the new pair of trumpets. Thank you to Pedro for his wonderful playing and also thanks to Mariana Miquel and Naomi Nordblom for carrying and parading the narsingra trumpets so expertly. Many thanks to Labhras and Una at Bru Boru for their ongoing support. We look forward to bringing these trumpets to Wales.
